1. Take one of the chain rings on the end and run the chain through the ring. Now you have a loop with both end rings contacting.
2. Put the chain in front of the dog. The collar should look like a horizontal 'P'. Place the loop around the dog's head.
3. Fasten a leash to the fixed ring, which does not slide along the chain.
When the chain is put on your dog in this way, the collar will tighten when the dog pulls on the leash. The collar loosens when you relax the lead.
If the collar is placed on your dog wrongly, the chain links go from the lead through the other ring and then UNDER your dog's neck. The collar will not loosen when you pull on the leash.
Make certain that that you put the chain on your dog in the proper orientation. If the dog walks on your right, leash-end of the choker should hang from the left side of the dog’s neck. If you walk the pet on your left, leash-end of the choke collar should hang from the right side of the dog's neck.
